Preparing a Resume Photo on Short Notice
Prepare a resume photo from a phone portrait when the application deadline is close.
Check the application requirement before editing
Confirm whether a photo is mandatory and note file type, size, and deadline. If it is optional, reviewing the actual application may be a better use of limited time.
If possible, take a fresh photo by a window
Stand against a plain bright wall, face a window, and shoot the upper body at eye level. Take several frames and select one without blur or closed eyes.
Use the original file when reusing a portrait
A photo-library original is better than a messaging thumbnail or screenshot. Avoid group photos with a tiny face and selfies with a strong beauty filter.
Evaluate one kind of edit at a time
Heavy background, clothing, and facial changes make it difficult to identify what looks wrong. Start with a simple background and outfit, then keep facial retouching low.
Five-minute submission check
Under deadline pressure, verify likeness and file requirements one final time.
- Correct applicant and file
- Current recognizable appearance
- Required dimensions and format
- Sharp small preview
- Source and result saved locally
